Ipswich Town manager Mick McCarthy says it looks like his summer business is done.

The Blues boss has seen 14 players depart this summer – including senior trio Christophe Berra, Jonathan Douglas and Brett Pitman, as well as star loanee Tom Lawrence – and signed five fresh faces in the form of Joe Garner, Martyn Waghorn, Bersant Celina, Dominic Iorfa and Tom Adeyemi, also retaining Emyr Huws and Jordan Spence.

Garner and Waghorn are competing with David McGoldrick and Freddie Sears for places up front, while the emergence of teenage academy duo Flynn Downes and Tristan Nydam has softened the blow of a lengthy central midfield injury list.

Asked if there might be any more additions before the transfer window shuts at the end of the month, McCarthy said: “I think we’re fine. It’s not a big squad, but it’s a squad of good players. Isn’t it nice that I can leave players out and put in others of equal quality? I think we’ve got that in pretty much most positions if they’re all fit.”
