Ipswich Town fans and pundits have been having their say about the impending departure of boss Mick McCarthy – here’s a flavour of what’s being said online.

McCarthy’s contract is due to expire at the end of the campaign but, after meeting owner Marcus Evans on Wednesday night the pair have agreed to part ways at the end of the campaign.

The Blues manager will see out his contract and remain in charge until the end of the campaign, while assistant Terry Connor will also depart at the end of the season.

“Mick and I had a discussion and we both agreed that this was the best way forward for him and for Ipswich Town,” club owner Marcus Evans said.

“It never got to the point where we actually talked about a new contract. It just felt right that it was time for us both to look at different options.
