Ipswich Town loanee Jonny Williams is set for a 12 week spell on the sidelines after undergoing shoulder surgery today.

Blues boss Mick McCarthy revealed the bad news to around 100 supporters at this evening’s PLC Annual General Meeting.

Welsh international Williams, back with the Blues for a third spell from Crystal Palace, made his first start of the season in last Saturday’s 3-2 win at Wigan.

“He had an operation on his shoulder today and will be 12 weeks out,” revealed McCarthy. “He slipped onto the track at Wigan, actually he got battered onto the track.

“My thoughts are with him because he’s had a few accidents and injuries. He got kicked off the park against Watford and he got another one at Wigan. He’s been very unfortunate.”
