Ipswich Town welcome a Cardiff side sitting second in the Championship to Portman Road.
The Blues boss issued an apology yesterday after television cameras captured him swearing while celebrating Luke Chambers’ 89th-minute goal at Norwich on Sunday. Speaking after the game, McCarthy insisted his outburst was not directed at the Ipswich Town fans, which he reiterated again yesterday.
Wednesday night’s game sees him face old friend, and foe, Neil Warnock, who he has beaten just once in the last nine encounters between the two experienced bosses.
Sunday’s derby draw leaves the Blues eight points off the final Championship play-off place, while the Bluebirds currently sit second in the table.
