Ipswich Town right-back Josh Emmanuel has signed a contract extension until 2019.
The London-born 19-year-old, who came through the Blues youth system after being let go by West Ham at an early age, has made eight starts and three substitute appearances in Mick McCarthy’s first team and had been in the final year of his deal.
Emmanuel spoke about growing pains, God and gratitude to his parents in a recent interview. McCarthy said, following the teenager’s impressive display in the 1-0 home defeat to huddersfield, that Emmanuel and fellow young left-back Myles Kenlock were now ‘trusted first team players’.
With both Tommy Smith and Adam Webster injured, Emmanuel is set to start in the televised home game against Nottingham Forest a week on Saturday (5pm).
