Jay Emmanuel-Thomas looks set to end his two-year stay at Ipswich Town today, with Bristol City winger Paul Anderson coming to Portman Road in the opposite direction.
We exclusively revealed that a deal was close to completion 10 days ago but negotiations have taken longer than normal, because of the complexities that come with a swap deal.
We understand Town have agreed to pay off the final year of Emmanuel-Thomas’ contract in order to push the move through, and all that remains now is for the two players to pass medicals and agree personal terms.
Emmanuel-Thomas was signed by Paul Jewell two summers ago but has been blighted by inconsistency, scoring just nine goals in 75 appearances, and did not travel with the Blues’ squad to Ireland last week.
As for Anderson, the former Nottingham Forest winger only joined the Robins last summer and scored three goals in 29 games in his only season at the club.
