Ipswich Town will carry the name of a local charity on the back of their first-team shirts next season.

It will be an historic moment as it will mark the first time Town have carried anything other than the club’s name on the back of their shirts.

The charity’s name or logo will be printed just below the numbers on home and away shirts worn by the first-team squad on matchday, with the partnership also seeing a number of other benefits to the charity.

“It’s something new for us and it’s an exciting concept,” Town MD, Ian Milne, has told the Club website.

“When we looked at the idea, the owner was keen for a local charity to be represented on the shirts rather than have any commercial aspect and the reaction we have had from possible charity partners has been very encouraging.

“Hopefully we will be able to make an announcement over the next week or two.”

The charity’s name will appear on the back of the shirt free of charge.
