In this week’s Ipswich Town nostalgia, we take a look back to February 2009, when a James Perch own goal and a rare strike from David Wright helped the Blues to a 2-1 victory over Nottingham Forest at Portman Road.
Town took the lead in the 14th minute when Forest midfielder James Perch headed Tommy Miller’s free-kick into his own net.
The Blues added to their lead on the hour mark when Gareth McAuley spotted David Wright’s run in from the right and played a sublime ball into his path. Wright took it into the area and scored with a low shot to open his account for the season.

Forest pulled a goal back in the 77th minute when Nathan Tyson bundled home at the second time of asking from a Garath McCleary cross, but it wasn’t enough for the visitors as the Blues held on for the three points.
The result put the Blues within four points of Sheffield United in the race for the final play-off place in the Championship.
