IPSWICH Town manager Paul Jewell has assured supporters that he will try his best to sign loan duo Keith Andrews and Danny Collins.

Following Saturday’s Championship visit of Derby County, Welsh international centre-back Collins has to return to parent club Stoke City.

And midfielder Andrews – who has already scored eight goals for the Blues – will see his half-season loan from Blackburn expire in the New Year.

Both players have admitted that they see no future for themselves at their current Premier League employers, but there will be no lack of interest in their signatures come the January transfer window.

Norwich, Swansea and Wigan have already been linked with Andrews, while Wolves are said to be looking at Collins.

Jewell said: “We definitely want to keep them both – but as I’ve said before though, we’d like to sign Messi and there’s no chance of that.

“I think both players have enjoyed it here, but I understand there is interest from other clubs. We’ll be in there trying to sign them as well.”

He added: “If you can get hold of Blackburn you’re doing well. I’ve spoken to Tony Pulis a few times and I know we’re trying to speak to the players’ agents to try and get something sorted.

“There are a lot of hurdles to get over before we can sign the two of them, but I’ve got to say to supporters that we definitely want them.”
