Wycombe winger Joel Grant could be on his way to Ipswich, according to transfer rivals Portsmouth.

The EADT last week revealed that the Blues were closing in on the pacy wideman and, although manager Mick McCarthy was coy when directly asked about the player yesterday, a rival boss has let slip Town’s interest.

Speaking to the Portsmouth Evening news, Pompey assistant boss Steve Allen – who is trying to rebuild the club following relegation to League Two – said: “We met Joel Grant of Wycombe, he hasn’t gone anywhere yet but he might end up going to Ipswich.”

Grant, 25, started his career at Watford before moving on to Aldershot and Crewe. The London-born player has scored 16 goals in 68 starts and nine substitute appearances for the Chairboys and has represented Jamaica at youth level.
