IPSWICH Town boss Roy Keane praised referee Stuart Attwell for allowing this afternoon’s game to run its course, despite the heavy snowfall, as his Town side wrapped up a vital 3-0 win over Leicester.

“It was touch and go whether the game was going to start, but we started quickly, got three goals and then shut up shop,” said Keane.

“There was fun and games in the second half, and the referee had some tough decisions to make.

“He was put under a lot of pressure by Leicester, as you’d expect, and there was a lot of lobbying going on in the dressing room, (during the 15-minute break midway through the second-half).

“I thought the referee might call it off, which would have summed up our luck if he’d called it off with us 3-0 up.

“The players deserved this luck, because a lot of decisions have gone against us in recent weeks.”

Leicester boss Sven Goran-Eriksson insisted that the game should not even have started.

“I have learnt one thing - we can’t play on snow! I didn’t know that before this game, but I know now,” joked Eriksson.

“But I thought this game was a bad publicity for football. I thought it should not have started. Who wants to see a football game like that!

“If I was in a bar in Australia, then I would have switched off the TV,” added Eriksson.

An opener from David Norris and a brace from Jason Scotland ended Town’s six-game losing streak in the Championship.
