IPSWICH TOWN: Blues boss Roy Keane will select his side for tomorrow’s npower Championship game against Leeds United at Portman Road (kick-off 3pm) with goals in mind.

Keane knows from last season’s experience that a failure to put the ball into the back of the net enough times results in not enough victories and a mid-table position at best.

He has been banking on Jason Scotland to bag the goals, but the former Wigan front man missed a couple of good chances against Scunthorpe and Reading within the last week that would have bagged the Blues another three points and see them in second place going into the Leeds match.

Connor Wickham, who despite his tender 17 years and unable to find his best form so far this season has the ability to make something special happen, and Tamas Priskin will come into contention for a starting place up front with Ipswich set to go 4-4-2.

With skipper David Norris and teenager Luke Hyam both serving one-match bans, Jake Livermore is earmarked to make his full Town debut and join fellow Tottenham loanee Andros Townsend in the Ipswich team.

At the back, Keane also has decisions to make with only Gareth McAuley sure of a start and Tommy Smith, Mark Kennedy and Tom Eastman under consideration for a recall after missing out in the 1-0 midweek defeat at Reading.

Kaspar Schmeichel is still out with a tendon injury and will not be rushed back into the Leeds goal.

Manager Simon Grayson said: “Kasper’s doing a little bit of work but he’s sore with his tendon and it’ll be after the international break when he’s back.”

Shane Higgs has deputised throughout September and he may retain his place at Portman Road despite conceding six goals against Preston on Tuesday.

Leeds also have Jason Brown who was signed on loan from Blackburn to provide cover for Higgs.

After losing 5-2 against Barnsley at Grayson made five changes with Richard Naylor, Fede Bessone, Paul Connolly, Lloyd Sam and Luciano Becchio all dropping out.

Bessone and Connolly are injured but the other three are in line for a recall.
