Can anyone explain what happened in the second half? I can understand the lack of quality, but where did the passion go? Northstander Terry Hunt gives his thoughts on Ipswich Town’s 1-0 loss to Norwich City.

To put it bluntly, we were dreadful after half-time. We let a pretty mediocre Norwich team walk all over us. So, so disappointing.

After all the hype in the build-up, expectations were high. We were going to get at Norwich, get stuck in. Errr...that simply didn’t happen.

There was just nothing in the second-half. No quality, no passion, no chances, nothing to get me off my seat. Angus Gunn had virtually nothing to do.

So the negativity is back. It was a great opportunity, with 10,000 extra fans in the stadium, to prove that things have improved since last season. Chance missed,

We’re now back to the debate about the owner and the manager. Let’s look at McCarthy first. He undoubtedly picked the best team he had available to him, but then why were they not fired up? Surely that’s the manager’s job?

Then there’s his legendary caution. With his team a goal down, at home, in front of an expectant crowd, why did he wait so long to introduce Bersant Celina? It’s utterly mystifying – but oh so predictable.

- McCarthy ‘bitterly disappointed’ after derby day loss

As far as the owner is concerned....well, we’re close to the tenth anniversary of his purchase of our football club. Two words sum up that decade: frustrating and mystifying.

The frustration is obvious. Our 16th season in this division, and it’s painfully apparent that we can start making our plans for a 17th. We will surely qualify for a long service award from the Championship before too much longer.

What mystifies me and other fans is why Marcus Evans bought the club in the first place. What on earth was the point if he wasn’t prepared to invest enough money to give us a fair crack of making it the Land of Milk and Honey, otherwise known as the Premier League? Whoever you ask, there seems to be no answer to that question.

So we trundle on in our little bubble of mediocrity. Never mind. Another game or two and we’ll be 15th, where we seem to be most comfortable.

Very, very miserable.
