DAVID Stockdale has been called up to the full England squad for Wednesday’s friendly against the Netherlands at Wembley.
The announcement comes just hours after the Ipswich Town number one played a starring role in helping the Blues enjoy a 3-0 opening day win at Bristol City.
Stockdale is one of three keepers named, although both Joe Hart and Rob Green are expected to be in action tomorrow in the Community Shield and Championship respectively.
The call-up is Stockdale’s third with England and means he will not be available to play against Northampton on Tuesday night in the Carling Cup.
With Marton Fulop joining Premier League West Brom on a free transfer, Arran Lee-Barrett is expected to start in goal while young American Cody Cropper might earn himself a place on the bench.
The full squad is:
Goalkeepers: Robert Green, Joe Hart, David Stockdale
Defenders: Leighton Baines, Gary Cahill, Ashley Cole, Rio Ferdinand, Phil Jagielka, Joleon Lescott, Micah Richards, John Terry, Kyle Walker
Midfielders: Gareth Barry, Michael Carrick, Stewart Downing, Adam Johnson, Frank Lampard, James Milner, Scott Parker, Jack Wilshere, Ashley Young
Attackers: Andy Carroll, Peter Crouch, Wayne Rooney, Danny Welbeck
