PAUL Jewell has admitted that Tamas Priskin, who signed on loan to Swansea on transfer deadline day last week, could make the move permanent this summer.

If Priskin catches the eye of Swans boss Brendan Rodgers, like he did while the two were together at Watford, then the Hungarian could make the switch permanent, so long as the offer suited Town.

Jewell revealed: “”Swansea came in with a (loan) request, I put it to Tamas and he fancied it.

“I was prepared to let him go.

“Without ever counting our chickens, I think we have got enough here to make sure we stay in this division.

“Tamas was not in the team, even though he was close and was around the team.

“But hopefully he will do well at Swansea and maybe, just maybe, if he does well he might just get himself a move.

“He has a future at Ipswich, but if an offer came in that suited us, then I would listen to it.

“But he’s not getting pushed out of the door. If he had wanted to stay here at Ipswich, then it wouldn’t have been a problem for him to stay.

“It was one of those things where I thought it was OK to do. I just felt that we have Josh Carson coming through, and possibly Connor Wickham getting his chance down the middle now. We’ve also got Jason Scotland, and it’s not as though we score a million goals as well.

“Tamas has worked with Brendan Rodgers before and done very well for him, so we wish him well.

“It’s a calculated risk,” added Jewell, who has just Wickham and Scotland on his books as recognised strikers for the rest of this season.

Town return to action at Burnley this Saturday.
