JORDAN Rhodes is set to complete a move to Huddersfield Town today.

After an initial bid for the 19-year-old was turned down by Ipswich Town, the Terriers had a second offer accepted and Rhodes was in south Yorkshire last night taking his medical.

Personal terms were close to being finalised and if there are no hitches Rhodes will join the Galpharm Stadium club within the next 36 hours.

The fee is officially undisclosed but believed to be initially around 150,000 with significant add-ons for the player who is seen with huge potential.

Huddersfield boss Lee Clarke recently signed former Cambridge United striker Robbie Simpson from Coventry City but has made it clear he is seeking a finisher and Rhodes fits that bill.

A loan spell proved lucrative for Rhodes who helped the Bees to the League Two title and he was awarded a championship-winning medal.

That also prompted manager Andy Scott to try and take him again but a conversation with Roy Keane before their friendly earlier this month drew a negative response.

Keane revealed on Saturday that they had turned down a bid from an un-named club and Rhodes made it clear he was ready to stay and fight for a place in Town's first team.

Rhodes was signed by Ipswich's academy from Barnsley for 5,000 and they are entitled to a sell on bonus from Town once the deal is complete.

Ironically, he made his first team debut at Barnsley in March 2007, before netting his first senior goal against Cardiff the following month.

Rhodes missed the Blues squad's day at Colchester Garrison training with members of the Parachute Regiment yesterday to travel to Yorkshire.

Swansea are still trying to convince Pablo Counago to join them and as a fee was agreed for him last week they are free to make another approach to the Spaniard who turned them down over the weekend.

Counago has two years left on his current Town contract and is in no hurry to leave the Blues.

Meanwhile, Preston have rekindled their interest in Macedonian international Veliche Shumulikoski.

Preston and Watford were keen on the midfielder towards the end of last season, with Fulham also reported to have been showing an interest.
