IPSWICH Town are playing down reports that Lauren Robert may be about to sign for them.
The French winger was spotted lunching with Blues chief scout Charlie Woods in an Italian restaurant on Saturday before going to watch the goalless draw with Burnley.
The duo have stayed friendly since Robert played at Newcastle under Sir Bobby Robson when Woods worked there too.
Woods said: “Lauren was staying in London over the weekend and called me so I invited him to the game.
“He has now gone back to France and we have no more to add at the moment.”
Ipswich refused to rule out the possibility of a trial for the 32-year-old who is available as a free agent from Spanish side Levante.
