Town boss Paul Jewell is desperate to bolster his strike-force options for next season, and Vaughan would fit the bill.
The 22-year-old has impressed during two loan spells at Championship rivals Crystal Palace this season, scoring nine goals for the struggling Eagles.
However, Town are bound to face competition, if they want to sign former England Under-21 international Vaughan, with Palace, promotion-chasing Norwich City and also Celtic in the mix.
