AFTER their 2-0 victory over Southampton, Ipswich Town are now only two home wins away from equalling the club's all-time winning run in the league at Portman Road.
That stands at 14, achieved more than 50 years ago, in the 1956-1957 season, when the team were plying their trade in the Third Division (South).
The record run began on September 19, 1956, and ended on March 3, 1957. They were pretty entertaining games as well - the Blues notched no fewer than 56 goals in those 14 matches!
The full record run was as follows:
Played 14 Won 14 Scored 56 Conceded 7
Town's current winning home run, which now stretches back 12 games, has also seen plenty of goals flying into the opposition net.
It reads:
Played 12 Won 12 Scored 38 Conceded 7
If Town beat Barnsley at home on Saturday, they could equal the record against Leicester on Tuesday, December 11, and then beat it against Scunthorpe on Saturday, December 15.
