CAOLON Lavery scored twice as Ipswich Town beat Peterborough United 5-0 in a behind-closed-doors reserve team game at Playford Road this afternoon.
The Northern Ireland Under-21 international – who netted for both the Under-18s and second string last week – continued his goalscoring run, with Jay Emmanuel-Thomas, Jaime Peters and Ronan Murray also on target.
Summer signing Ivar Ingimarsson was in the starting line-up for Town as he continues his recovery from a thigh injury that has restricted him to just the one Championship appearance this term.
The Icelandic centre-back could yet be called upon for Saturday’s trip to Middlesbrough as the Blues wait to hear on the severity of Ibrahima Sonko’s knee injury.
Ipswich have chosen to arrange their own second string games this season rather than take part in the rapidly thinning East Combination Reserve League. Town, who are looking to set-up fixtures against Premier League opposition in the coming weeks, say there will be opportunities for supporters to watch training matches during the course of the campaign though.
