Town to face Posh

Ipswich Town's players had a long wait to hear who they would be facing in the next round of the Carling Cup.

Ipswich was the final club out of the hat having been drawn away to Peterborough United as reward for their hard earned win following extra time and penalties at Shrewsbury.

The tie will have a distinct Manchester United flavour to it, as Roy Keane will come face to face with Posh boss Darren Ferguson, son of Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson for whom Keane played for at Old Trafford.

Norwich City have been rewarded for their win at Yeovil with a mouth watering home tie against Premiership side Sunderland, managed by former Canary Steve Bruce.

Meanwhile, Tottenham will begin their quest for a third successive appearance in the Carling Cup final with a second-round tie at Doncaster.

Spurs lost 4-1 on penalties against Manchester United at Wembley in March and will be going all out against their Championship opponents as they bid to get their hands back on the trophy they won with a famous win against Chelsea in the 2008 final.

Port Vale have been rewarded for their first-round win over Sheffield United with a tie against Steel City rivals Wednesday, while the big-spending Manchester City open up their account away at Crystal Palace.

Elsewhere, Huddersfield manager Lee Clark will look forward to a return to the north east against his former club Newcastle, while a spiky tie is in the offing at Upton Park, where West Ham will host Millwall.
