DAMIEN Delaney is not closing in on a move to divisional rivals Nottingham Forest.
Reports overnight suggested new Forest boss Sean O’Driscoll had targeted Delaney and former Town loanee Danny Collins as new additions to his backline.
While Collins is close to agreeing a switch to the City Ground, we understand Ipswich have not been contacted about Delaney who is expected to start alongside Luke Chambers in tonight’s friendly at Cambridge United (7.45pm ko).
Delaney was a target for Crystal Palace last year but with Paul Jewell only having three recognised centre-backs on his books – and one of those, Tommy Smith, at the Olympics – an imminent deal seems unlikely.
Town have today also been linked with Doncaster Rovers left-sided defender George Friend.
