IPSWICH Town boss Roy Keane was glad that he took the gamble to start with Connor Wickham in today’s convincing 2-0 win over Cardiff City.
AN own goal from substitute Adam Matthews and a clinical finish from Jason Scotland secured a marvelous home win for Town, to propel them into second spot.
But it was the performance of 17-year-old Wickham that caught the eye.
Keane enthused: “Connor has a presence about him. He gives us a little something different.
“I thought it was a good team performance and a good game. We had a sticky first 10 minutes, but came through that.
“Connor did well. It was a gamble to start with him, but he had earned that right.”
