CONNOR Wickham could be a Sunderland player within the next 24 hours.
The EADT and Evening Star understand that Wickham is already up in the north-east, and will sign for the Black Cats subject to agreeing personal terms and passing a medical.
Earlier in the day, it emerged that Town had accepted a bid from Sunderland, believed to be in the region of 13m for their 18-year-old striker.
Portman Road officials have remained tight-lipped about this bid, and that remains their position, but it now looks like a deal is likely to go through.
The final fee is likely to be undisclosed, although the total figure could to be in excess of 12million, subject to appearances, with a down payment of 9m.
So it appears likely that Wickham will become a Sunderland player later this week, unless another Premier League club comes in with a dramatic late offer.
