THE over 50s vets came unstuck against last years winners, Indian Gymkana, but they made a valiant effort against a team that was in reality much strengthened from last season.
From the start Ipswich were on the back foot and playing only Glading and Peter Sampson up front cut down the options going forward. However, Ipswich were holding their own but conceded two scrappy goals before half time.
Half-time reorganization saw Ipswich push Hughes up front and this created more problems to the visitors, Kendall was unlucky to see a thunderous effort parried before Gymkana increased the lead. Glading thought he had pulled one back only to see it deflect wide off the keeper's helmet. Gymkana however, regained the initiative as they pushed forward, whilst the home team defence stuck at it they were reliant on man of the match Steward in goal to pull off a string of saves including a penalty flick, but he was powerless as as Gymkana put away two goals to put the match beyond reach.
Well at least we can now concentrate on the league and over 40s cup!
