A weakened Pelicans found it hard work against Ipswich, but perhaps the scoreline flattered the home side as it certainly was not quite as one sided as the score line suggests. At the end of the day Ipswich were much more clinical in front of goal and this was the decisive factor that decided the game.

Ipswich were slow to start but once Foster scored when the keeper 's view was obstructed and Wheaton had scored Ipswich gained in confidence. Curzon bagged a pair one a simple tap in after a well worked penalty corner but the home attack was denighed fro some excellent keeping.

As the visitors tired in the second half Ipswich gained the upper hand in terms of midfield dominance and they were able to turn this into goals at regular intervals Foster and Wheaton adding their second before Glading at last got onto the scoresheet, converting three and being thwarted for a fourth by a magnificent reflex save from the visitors goalkeeper. In the final minutes Fletton added his name to the list of scorers converting with a simple tap in after a fine move.

Next week Ipswich have a few miles to travel as they visit Peterborough in the league for a top of the table clash and then visit Woking on Sunday in the over 50s cup match.
