Ipswich Witches No.1 Danny King made it a very Good Friday for Suffolk fans as the home side saw off Peterborough Panthers at Foxhall Stadium.
In what was supposed to be part one of a double header (the second leg at Peterborough last night was postponed because of a waterlogged track), King was quite majestic as he rattled off four wins out of four, two of them from the back, including a thrilling heat 10 victory.
King’s brilliance rubbed off on all the Witches who all enjoyed a good afternoon.
Rohan Tungate got better as the meeting went on while Gino Manzares and Cameron Heeps both had race wins – reserves Luke Bowen (guesting for Stefan Nielsen) and Argentinian Nico Covatti were also good value.
A storming start to the meeting – three 5-1s in the first three heats – put the Witches in command from the off and although the Panthers dug in mid-meeting, there only ever looked like being one winner.
