ITALIAN cyclist Davide Rebellin will be stripped of his Olympic silver medal, the Italian Olympic Committee has confirmed.Rebellin, who finished second in the men's road race at the 2008 Beijing Games, tested positive for the banned blood-boosting agent CERA in April.

Rebellin, who finished second in the men's road race at the 2008 Beijing Games, tested positive for the banned blood-boosting agent CERA in April.

The Italian Olympic Committee (CONI) revealed the International Olympic Committee (IOC) had disqualified Rebellin.

A statement on www.coni.it read: "The IOC Disciplinary Commission has disqualified Italian athlete Davide Rebellin from the men's road cycling race at the Olympic Games in Beijing 2008, where he finished second.
