Jake Collins, Clair Westgate and James Davies Stokes were the big winners in this year’s Suffolk Senior Closed Table Tennis Championships, which were held at the Britannia TTC in Ipswich on Sunday.
A record entry, in recent years, of 31 players competed for a total of eight trophies.
In the womens’ singles five entrants played each other in a round robin event to determine the champion and it was third seed Westlake that triumphed, winning all her games.
In the men’s singles final, Collins faced Kian Burgess. The first two sets were routine for Collins, whose overall game and power was too much for his younger opponent, but a better third saw Burgess get it to 10-6 before Collins stormed back to take the title again in straight sets.
James Davies Stokes triumphed in the under-21 singles section, Andy Holmes won the restricted singles and David Gough claimed the handicap singles title.
