Former Colchester United and Braintree Town striker Jamie Guy has joined Needham Market.
The 25-year-old, who has made more than 50 appearances for the U’s in the Championship and 26 for Braintree Town in Conference South before a double fracture of the leg ended his 2010/11 season, has joined Mark Morsley’s Ryman League North side on a two-year deal.
It’s a major coup for the Bloomfields club, as manager Morsley admits.
“We are obviously hugely excited about Jamie joining us,” he said.
“He brings quality to our club and will fit in perfectly with the new squad.
“Jamie Guy has a professional background that fits in well with the high level of coaching that Steve Foley and Lee Norfolk will ensure is achieved.
“Talking to Jamie, he agreed with my vision for the club and wants to be a part of the potential that will make this season – and those to come – exciting for our supporters.”
Needham Market have also announced The Windscreen Company, in Ipswich as a main club sponsor.
Morsley added: “It’s excellent news and the support from managing director Barry Hedgley has helped us bring Jamie to the club.”
