Teenager Jordan Jenkins is the new captain of Mildenhall Fen Tigers for the 2018 season.

The 16-year-old is set to become the youngest captain in the club’s history after taking on the role a few times last season

Promoter Kevin Jolly is happy to give the youngster the responsibility.

“Jordan is mature beyond his years and was a natural in the role when he captained the team late last season,” Jolly said.

“He is dedicated to the sport and to Mildenhall, he loved the experience last year and was very pleased and proud to accept the job full-time this season.”

And former team boss Robert Henry will not be completely severing his role within the club as he has agreed to act as a mentor to the youngsters in the Fen Tigers side at home meetings this season, while being available to support Phil Kirk in his new team manager role.

Kirk was pleased that Henry would still be involved.

“For me personally, it is great that Robert will still be around on a Sunday afternoon, I have learnt so much from him and he has been a fine mentor to me as he will be for our young side,” Kirk said.

“The last couple of years have been about the two of us working together to do our very best for the club we love and it is a great start to the New Year to know that Robert will remain involved”
