Hadleigh Utd 3 Team Bury 0

THREE goals in the last eight minutes saw Hadleigh United lift the Hadleigh Charity Cup at the Millfield on Saturday.

However, the scoreline was tough on the visitors, who matched their higher-division opponents for most of the match and should have taken the lead when Will Hitter’s 50th minute shot hit the underside of the bar and appeared to bounce down over the line but no goal was given.

Duane Wright eventually broke the deadlock, heading home Luke Read’s free kick in the 82nd minute before Simon Hyde powered home a far-post header from Kieren Joseph’s whipped in cross three minutes later.

Read completed the scoring in the last minute, sidefooting home into the roof of the net past Craig Brand, who had earlier made a string of fine saves to deny Liam Jennings, Ben Deacon and Ollie Canfer.
