The Spaniard is aware that he's relying too heavily on Fernando Torres and fancies the Cameroon international as cover.
The pair would make a formidable strike partnership, and although Eto'o says he wants to stay at Barca until his contract expires in 2010, Liverpool are hopeful that the La Liga leaders would accept an offer this summer for the player.
Eto'o is top goal scorer in the Spanish league and has played an important part in Barcelona's dominance this season.
It's believed that Rafa Benitez's has been given a �30million war chest to spend this summer, and a move for Eto'o would make a hefty dent in that.
