KING’S Lynn star Mads Korneliussen proved to be the marathon racer with victory in the 16-Lap Classic at Foxhall Stadium last night.

Korneliussen, the only Elite League rider in the field, started his night with a last place in the heats, before reeling off three wins and coming through to finish second in the 16-lap final, to take overall victory.

However it looked as thought Ipswich captain Kevin Doolan would take the crown, before he packed up two laps from home, with the title in sight, with him ahead of Korneliussen.

On a soggy night, the riders did well to complete the meeting and Morten Risager won the final, but with not enough points from the heats, he had to settle for third place overall, Glasgow’s Nick Morris taking overall second.

Mildenhall youngster Cameron Heeps, who is set to be an Ipswich rider in 2012, had a good night, on his 16th birthday, racing to seven points in the heats and finishing third in the 16-lap final, and fourth overall.

Result: 1 M Korneliussen, 2 N Morris, 3 M Risager.
