Speedway will return to Peterborough as early as next month – as the club will be staging a winter meeting at the Showground!

Sunday February 2, with a midday start, is the date for supporters to put into their diaries for the re-scheduled Christmas Cracker.

The meeting was originally to be staged at Coventry, where Panthers leasehold consortium leader Mick Horton is owner and promoter, on December 29.

However, the atrocious weather over Christmas put paid to the event, and it now cannot be re-run at Brandon.

The meeting will therefore switch to Peterborough at the start of next month and full details on the line-up and format will be provided over the coming weeks.

Horton said: “Everyone knows the East of England Showground is a terrific track and we will be working hard to put together an exciting line-up.

“There will be a lot of good riders in the country at that time to prepare for the new season and I imagine there will be plenty of people interested in taking part.

“I just know it is going to provide a great early start to the season for all speedway fans.”
