Mark Morsley is hoping his young side can cope with another tough challenge likely to be coming their way on Saturday.
The King’s Marsh stadium side travel to Witham Town’s Spa Road ground, the Essex side bottom of Bostik North.
However, Witham did pick up a well-deserved point at Felixstowe & Walton last weekend – only their sixth point of a campaign that has so far seen just one league win for the Essex team.
“Saturday is another game I am really looking forward to as it will be a different test for my developing team,” Morsley said.
“Witham are fighting for their North Division survival but will be buoyed but an excellent draw at Felixstowe last week.
“My scouting report showed that they are starting to gel and after our defeat against Grays last week I am looking for us to bounce back.”
Sudbury were left disappointed last weekend after leading high-flying Grays 2-0 at the break.
The second period was a very different affair however, with Grays hitting back to win 3-2 and Morsley not happy with aspects of his side’s play.
“In the Grays match we were undone by them knowing a bit more than us in the second half, so allowing them to turn our lead around,” Morsley said.
“We did not keep possession at our normal standard and resorted to hitting the front men too early.
“We must avoid that on Saturday as the day will be windy and with heavy rain forecast the pitch will be another challenge when compared to the carpet we enjoy playing on at home.”
Meanwhile Mildenhall Town boss Dean Greygoose knows his side will have to defend better if they are to get points off league leaders Aveley at Recreation Way on Saturday.
Town had a solid win against Romford two weeks ago, but went down disappointingly to Tilbury last Saturday.
“We had a lot of the ball at Tilbury, but were a bit flat,” Greygoose said.
“We didn’t do enough with it and then gave away two poor goals. It was very disappointing.
“Aveley will provide us with a tough test and we are just not keeping enough clean sheets.
“We are letting in too many poor goals. There are no easy games and I don’t actually think there are any stand-out sides, perhaps Aveley will be.
“But nearly all the sides in this league will punish you if you make mistakes.”
