Needham Market’s Academy Scholars can look forward to plying their trade in the Thurlow Nunn Football League Division One in season 2013/14.

This achievement marks yet another significant milestone in the progress of Needham Market Football Club, with it’s Academy launched as recently as 2011 and remarkably taking its place in a level of football from which the Club’s very own senior side were promoted as recently as 2005.

Academy Director Andy Gould paid tribute to Head Coach Kevin Horlock for the enthusiasm, commitment and professionalism he had brought to the role, supported by not only his own match day staff, but the football Club as a whole with so many behind the scenes having contributed to bring about this achievement in such a short space of time.

Kevin echoed those sentiments by recognising the role that everyone at the football club had played, from it’s officials to the many volunteers who largely go about their business unnoticed on a day to basis, and yet without whom the Football Club and the Academy would not operate , adding, “our application to join the senior ranks of the Thurlow Nunn League was a bold one, but one which we felt would further enhance the status of our Academy Programme, but also that of the Football Club as a whole.

“A lot of work went on behind the scenes and that effort has been rewarded with our election to Thurlow Nunn Football League Divison One. We recognise that we have work to do off the field as well as on it in preparation for what will be an exciting season ahead, but it’s now all systems go and come the 3 August I’m sure we’ll all be ready at Needham Market.”
