Needham Market boss Mark Morsley has admitted the next two games are “the biggest of my career.”

The Marketmen, just one place off the relegation places in Ryman Premier, entertain Merstham this afternoon at Bloomfields, before hosting Staines on Tuesday night.

The Suffolk side are in a precarious position and although five points clear of Brentwood, who are currently in the final relegation place, the Essex side have four games in hand.

“The next two games are hugely important,” Morsley said.

“In fact I would say they are the biggest of my career.

“Yes, I’ve had cup finals and promotions, but the whole club wants to retain its Step Three status and we need to start picking up points.

“We can win both games, I’ve got no doubt about that and Brentwood may have games in hand, but they don’t have a mass of easy fixtures, in fact they have some very tough ones.

“But we need to start turning draws into wins, starting on Saturday.”

Today’s visitors Merstham, from Surrey, are safe in the division after a good run of recent results.

“We have got to find their Achilles heel and as quick as possible on Saturday,” he said.

“They have had a decent run of results lately and they are not going up or going down, so they will be pleased with their season as they came up, like us, last campaign.

“We lost 2-0 at their place but I felt we deserved better.”

Quickly following on from today’s clash is Tuesday night’s game for Needham, again at home, this time to Staines.

Currently Staines are one place and five points above Needham.

It’s a nervy time for all at Bloomfields, but does the boss get nervous?

“I think it’s fair to say when I stop having a few butterflies before each game, it’s time for me to pack up,” he said.

“I don’t get nervous as such because the team needs me to bring calm to proceedings before the game. Certainly that is the case if I am doing my job.

“But I must admit I’m buzzing about these two games. Two games we can certainly win.”

Morsley is hoping to receive international clearance to play young teenage Spanish star Guillem Carreno.

He has been training with the Needham squad and is a former professional with Cerdanyola, based near Barcelona.
