Leatherhead 0 Needham Market 1

Needham Market secured a hard-earned three points at Bostik Premier play-off chasing Leatherhead tonight, thanks to a terrific 1-0 win in Surrey.

The Marketmen, who started brightly and always looked threatening on the break, grabbed an 88th minute winner when home keeper Sam Sargeant dropped the ball and Sam Nunn slotted home, with Dan Morphew in close attendance.

As a result, Richard Wilkins’ men have moved up to 14th in the table. Leatherhead had begun the evening just six points off Staines, who filled the final play-off berth, with three games in hand, so they will consider this as three points dropped.

NEEDHAM MARKET: Gay, Dye (sub D Morphew, 70), Sturgess, Kamanzi, K Morphew, Nunn, Ingram, Heath, Griffiths, Edge, Ocran (sub Harrison, 89). Attendance: 244

Meanwhile, in-form Heybridge Swifts will power into the Bostik North play-off zone, if they can win at Bury Town tomorrow evening (7.45pm). The Swifts have risen to eighth spot, on the back of three straight wins inside the last week.
