Manchester City are now in pole position to sign the 31-year-old Australian defender who is a free agent after rejecting a �2million-a-year salary with lucrative add-ons at Upton Park.
Neill has come to the end of his �60,000-a-week contract and has refused to sign a new performance-based package worth more than �2m.
The defender has also been linked with a move to Newcastle, Olympiakos and Galatasaray.
