Leiston won their first game in five attempts in an 10-goal thriller at struggling Hampton & Richmond Borough last night in a breathtakingly crazy match, which ended 6-4 to the Blues.

A brace from Joe Francis as well as further goals from Michael Brothers, Craig Parker, Gareth Heath, and Tom Winter got the Blues a much-needed three points in this Ryman Premier clash.

Leiston got off to the worst possible start as Ben Harris gave Hampton the lead after just 10 minutes, but a stunning strike from all of 25 yards from Michael Brothers got the Suffolk side back on level terms.

Francis edged Leiston in front, before danger-man Charlie Moone equalised just before half-time with a speculative effort.

A crazy 13-minute spell mid-way through the second half then saw five goals scored – four of them for Leiston as Parker, Heath (penalty),Winter, and Francis all netted with Jesse Kewley-Graham scoring for Hampton.

Paris Mason then added a fourth for the hosts in the 82nd minute – the last on a night where supporters certainly got some value for money!

Elsewhere, last night, Lowestoft Town succumbed to a 2-1 away defeat at Worcester City in the Vanarama Conference North.

The Trawlerboys had a man advantage in the first half following Ellis Deeney’s dismissal for a reckless tackle, but still went into the break trailing as Sean Geddes scored on his debut for the hosts.

Things got worse for Lowestoft shortly after the break as Robert Eagle was also sent off following an ill-timed challenge, with Daniel Nti scoring from the resulting free-kick. Chris Henderson grabbed one back in stoppage time for Lowestoft.

Meanwhile, in the Ryman Premier, Seb Dunbar’s late strike rescued a point for Bury Town as they played host to Leatherhead.

Stacey Long’s 30th minute stunning free-kick gave the visitors the lead, but Dunbar raced onto debutant Kye Ruel’s clever scoop to net his first goal for the club in the 79th minute.

Witham Town also pushed much-fancied title-challengers Margate all the way in a 2-1 defeat for the Essex side – Kurt Smith scoring for Witham.

In the Ryman North, AFC Sudbury celebrated a big 5-1 win at Great Wakering Rovers mainly thanks to a superb hat-trick from the unplayable Kris Newby, and a brace from Ayrton Coley - one of which a cheeky chip on a fantastic night for David Batch’s men.

Heybridge Swifts also celebrated victory as they triumphed 2-1 away at Waltham Abbey, but there were defeats for fellow Essex sides Maldon & Tiptree and Brightlingsea Regent as they lost to Wroxham and Dereham Town 2-1 respectively.
