ANTHONY Ogogo will qualify for next year’s Olympic Games if his victor, Esquiva Falcao, makes the final of the World Amateur Boxing Championships, in Azerbaijan.
Ogogo would have qualified automatically for the Games had he reached tomorrow’s quarter-finals but he lost to Falcao 17-12, in the tournament in Baku.
However, under AIBA’s qualification rules, if Falcao reaches a place in the 75kg final, Ogogo will also qualify.
If the Brazilian fails to reach the final, Lowestoft’s Ogogo will have to qualify by competing at next year’s European Championships.
