Chelmsford Men's 2's travelled to local rivals, Old Loughts on Saturday, February 21.
The team knew they would be in for a tough game after losing out 3-2 in the home fixture before Christmas. Both teams had their chances in the first half with a couple of short corners apiece, but none could be converted.
Then in the closing stages of the first half a Loughts' attacker put the ball across the goalmouth in midair leaving it to his team mate on the back post to volley the ball into the Chelmsford net.
After an unsuccessful appeal by Chelmsford for dangerous play the score stood at 1-0 to Loughts at half time.
In the second half there were more chances for the twos and they kept the game at a good pace due to rolling subs, yet the opportunities were not opening up for them.
With the majority of the possession in the final 10 minutes of the game, Chelmsford fired off a few shots, only to be saved by the Loughts' keeper. The ball then being shipped down the pitch by Loughts to run out the remaining time.
Next Saturday Chelmsford are home to Spencer at 2pm
