Poynton 3 Harleston Magpies 0

Magpies indifferent form since Christmas continued as they were well beaten by Poynton.

The visitors started well enough with a fair share of midfield control, but Poynton always threatened the Magpies defence in the first half on the counter attack.

Harleston had the best chance of the first half when the umpire gave them the advantage instead of a penalty flick however they failed to take the chance. Similarly, Magpies won a number of penalty corners but Poynton were able to defend them successfully.

The game was decided in an eight minute spell early in the second half when Poynton's proven goalscorers finished three times in ruthless style.

Magpies were clearly rocking for a few minutes but, to their credit, came back strongly and finished the better team. The goal scoring chances Magpies created were probably twice as many as Poynton but the final pass or shot was never executed effectively.

Magpies are now anxiously looking over their shoulder and need to record a couple of wins to move up the table.
