FELIXSTOWE & Walton United joint manager Rob Charles has resigned from his position.

His resignation is as the result of an alleged minor incident in the clubhouse at the Goldstar Ground at a club function last Saturday evening.

The police were called but were not required to take any action.

A club statement released today said: “Joint first-team manager Rob Charles has tendered his resignation and the club have accepted it following an internal consultation surrounding alleged incidents on Saturday 1st December.

“Kevin O’Donnell will take full control of the senior management (football) with immediate effect.

“The club will now be concentrating all their efforts on further improving their league position whilst also looking forward to two cup quarter-finals in the New Year.

“Off the field the club continue fighting for improved facilities with a planning application to be made shortly for updated floodlighting.”

Charles was appointed as joint manager along with Kev O’Donnell in mid-October in succession to Steve Buckle and assistant Gary Thompson with the club at the foot of the Thurlow Nunn League Premier Division table.

Since their arrival the duo have overseen an improvement in results with four league wins, one draw and two defeats and the Seasiders are currently fifth from bottom with games in hand on all the sides below them.

Felixstowe have also reached the quarter-finals of the Red Insure Cup, formerly the Ridgeons League Cup, and also have a quarter-final tie at home to Ipswich Town in the John Banks Suffolk Premier Cup in January.

Charles, who was assistant manager to Kevin Witchalls before both stepped down for personal reasons at the end of the 2011/12 season, had been working in a scouting role for Needham Market prior to his appointment two months ago.
