THE 2013 Silver Ski Rockets – who are quickly picking up the tag of “Generation Next” thanks to a septet that includes no less than four riders aged 21 and under – will take to the track for the first time on Good Friday, March 29th.
The Rockets will head straight into official Premier Trophy competition with a visit to Ipswich, with their arch-rivals returning the favour just three days later by providing the opposition for Rye’s opening home meeting on Easter Monday, April 1st.
That Easter Monday meeting – which starts at 2pm – will also feature Quad Bike racing as a second half attraction following its highly popular trial this year at the Rockets-Leicester meeting.
It will be a later than usual start to the season for the Rockets, who have traditionally launched in mid-March, but will hopefully benefit accordingly from warmer – and with a touch of luck – drier weather than evident in 2012.
The Rockets are still hoping to stage their traditional Anglia Cup fixtures against the Witches, albeit now later in the season.
