Benhall made it four wins from their opening five SIL Senior Division games with a fine 3-0 victory over East Bergholt.

The Badgers had a lot of early pressure, but it was Bergholt who threatened first when George Sherwood’s 25-yard half-volley was tipped around the post by Darren Warner.

The home side exploited the wings in this match, and from a fine Ryan Noy cross, Tom Mower bravely headed home at the back post.

Chris Sillett saw a header chalked off for offside, but was soon celebrating as he superbly controlled and finished, following a pass from strike partner Mower.

After a change in personnel and formation, Bergholt posed much more of a threat in the second period.

However, they found Benhall’s defence too strong to breach as they were often limited to half-chances. Benhall finished the game in injury time when yet more terrific centre forward play from Mower set up Noy, who finished into the bottom corner superbly.

Elsewhere, Capel Plough made it three straight wins with a 4-2 win over Bramford. Shaun Webb gave them the lead with a header after ten minutes before Josh Lytees got the equaliser.

Nick Middlebrook put Plough 2-1 up, only for Lytees to level again. But Danny Garrard made it 3-2 from the spot just before the break and Webb made it 4-2 just after the restart. Ben Grogan was sent off for Bramford, who couldn’t close the gap again.

Meanwhile, Grundisburgh dominated their home clash with Trimley Red Devils, but finished on the wrong side of a 1-0 defeat.

David Gibson gave the Devils the lead with a header from Josh Hewitt’s corner on 24 minutes and somehow the Trimley goal survived an onslaught from the home side to take all three points.

Finally, Haughley saw off Coplestonians 2-1 at home for their second win of the season. Yani Duka played in Josh Smith to give Cops the lead after 20 minutes, but Mitchel Bennett grabbed the leveller in first half injury-time. heading home a free-kick.

Lewis Stannard scored what proved to be the winner after 49 minutes, heading home the rebound after Lee Upson hit the bar.
