IPSWICH businessman Simon Jones has stepped in to help Whitton United.
Simon, who runs Landscaping business Simon Jones Landscapes, donated 180 to the club to have the ‘The Shed’ stand roof repaired.
The new covered standing area ‘The Shed’ alongside the first-team pitch was officially opened on November 26, but within just one week the whole roof needed replacing after it had been vandalised.
The roof has now been repaired and Mr Jones attended the ground on Saturday prior to Whitton’s 1-1 draw against Cambridge University Press to see how his money had been put to good use.
Mr Jones said he was impressed with the hard work that is put in by all the volunteers at the club in constantly updating and maintaining facilities at their King George V ground and was pleased to be able to help in some way.
