Sprowston II 2 Magpies IV 2

MAGPIES travelled to Sprowston knowing they would face a tough challenge on a grass pitch. Sprowston started well pressing forward, confident on their favoured surface, enjoying more of the possession and forcing the Magpies defence into making some last ditch clearances.

The home side won several short corners, with Magpies 'keeper Kristina Erith making some brilliant saves, certainly keeping the away side in the game. Magpies slowly got into their rhythm, playing some good balls up to the forward line, getting into the D and making the Sprowston defence work.

Towards the end of the half Magpies won a short corner; the ball came out to Laura Schultheiss on the edge of the D, who, with a cracking strike right into the corner of the goal, gave Magpies the lead going into the break.

Magpies came out for the second half with renewed confidence, but a Sprowston counter attack saw the home side draw level. Sprowston took the lead soon after from a short corner. However Magpies were not going to go down without a fight and battled hard to find the equaliser. They were rewarded when a well-worked short corner routine ended with a Treacle Snelling strike to make it two all. Magpies continued to fight for the winner, but the score remained level.

All things considered, a fair result for Magpies, playing on a difficult grass pitch against a tough Sprowston side, Magpies didn't give up and battled hard, and well done to all 12 players for their effort and commitment until the final whistle. Heads up for next week.
