Sudbury Roller Hockey Club under-13s played one of the most exciting Eastern Counties Knockout Cup finals in the tournament’s history.

An epic dual between Peterborough and Sudbury saw the score tied at 3-3 after full-time and the game went to golden goal with two five-minute halves.

It then went to the dreaded penalty shoot-out and the score was 1-1 after five penalties each.

This meant sudden death penalties and with Sudbury missing their first one, this left the door open for Peterborough, and they took their chance.

This was not the end of the day however as there was also an under-nines competition.

With wins against Ely 1 and King’s Lynn, Sudbury under-nines found themselves in the final against Cottenham.

A tense match saw Cottenham just beat Sudbury 1-0.

Club member Harriet Finch has been selected to play for England Ladies Under-17s in the European Championship this September, in Spain.

The club is looking for new members and a free taster session is taking place on July 19 at Sudbury Sports Centre, between 2-5pm.

The session is for children aged between five and 15 and skates can be provided if you don’t have your own.
